Teen Mental Health Is in Crisis

Today’s youth are facing growing emotional challenges that affect their well-being and future success. Many teens report ongoing feelings of sadness and hopelessness, with emotional distress rising significantly over the past decade. Factors such as isolation, anxiety, academic and social pressures, and constant overstimulation from screens are adding to this emotional strain. As a result, more young people are struggling to feel understood, connected, and emotionally supported—at a time when support matters most.

Arts Is Prevention for Youth Mental Health

Creative expression helps support emotional well-being before kids reach a crisis point. Through art, movement, writing, and performance, young people learn healthy ways to express emotions, manage stress, build confidence, and connect with others. These protective skills reduce isolation, strengthen resilience, and support mental wellness early—making the arts a powerful tool in preventing deeper mental health challenges later on.

Participants reported significant emotional improvements following arts activities, including reduced anxiety, increased inspiration (57%), and higher levels of happiness (28%)

- The Arts & Wellness Program
